Chesed Helpline­­­ –718-705-5000 – “bridging the gap; connecting chesed organizations worldwide”

In order to easily access the overwhelming number of organizations, the Chesed Helpline gathers all the agencies under one phone number, and offers a direct connection to Hospital related information, Bikur Cholims, emergency and non emergency organizations like Hatzoloh, Chaverim and Shomrim associations nationwide.

Still in its infancy, the new Chesed Helpline has already proven itself to be an invaluable resource for Jewish communities worldwide, with a rapidly growing average of over 4,000 calls a month. The Helpline also contains a vast database of important information for many urgent situations, ranging from hospitals, transportation, patient liaisons, Shabbos accommodations, Bikur Cholims, and 24-hour pharmacies, to heimish bus schedules, community service organizations and more. The Chesed Information System will soon become the single point of contact for everyone, helping people access the complex sea of information and assistance available today.

Open 24/7; 365 days a year, the Chesed Helpline is also easy to navigate. The caller experience has been thoroughly tested, with the utmost attention paid to building a menu structure that is both user-friendly and practical. Currently serving Brooklyn and Manhattan communities, the system has already become a priceless tool for many. Come summer, the helpline will also be available for the Catskills region, with updated information related to hospitals, doctor offices, community service organizations, and emergency numbers available for upstate New York. Many hours of work and research have been invested to ensure that the system can quickly get you to the appropriate channels of help essential for almost any situation.

The Chesed Helpline is being built on the latest cloud computing infrastructure. Designed for scalability, redundancy and flexibility, the Chesed Helpline will continue to grow serving our communities for years to come. The Helpline plans to soon expand into an entirely global information system, bridging the gap, and connecting chesed organizations worldwide.    

At this point, the project needs to advance to a new system, ensuring that all major hospitals can take part.  More resources are also required to address the increase in calls with the new global system, translating into greater costs and fees. Much time, effort and money has already been devoted bringing this project to where it is today, and now it is ready to develop to the next level.
