Weiner to Hold Town Hall Meeting To Discuss Latest Developments in the Middle East

Queens, NY –  Following his meeting with President Obama and several other key Jewish Members of Congress, Rep. Anthony D. Weiner (D- Brooklyn and Queens) will hold a Town Hall Meeting in Queens to brief his constituents on the latest developments in the Middle East and what America’s next steps will be in its relationship with Israel.

Weiner has been critical of the Obama Administration’s conduct of U.S. – Israel relations as well as its handling of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. “It is not acceptable for the United States to criticize the internal decisions of another democracy, especially when it is the Palestinians who refuse to negotiate”, said Weiner in a recent editorial in the Jewish Press.

The White House has angered many in the Jewish community by repeatedly hammering Israel leaders on their domestic policy decision to build additional housing units in Jerusalem. Weiner reacted shortly after Vice President Biden’s visit, saying “Israel is an ally and a sovereign nation, not a punching bag. Enough already.” Weiner has had several meetings in Brooklyn and Queens communities, but concerns over the tenor of US-Israel relations remain.

Rep. Weiner will be holding a town hall meeting on Tuesday, June 1 at 8:00 PM at the Rabbinical Seminary of America at 76-01 147th Street, between 76th Road and 76th Avenue in Kew Gardens Hills Queens. For more details, call Weiner’s community office at 718-520-9001.
