6:00PM EST: Please be advise that the outbound Lincoln tunnel has just been closed until further notice due to emergency construction. Motorists are advised to use the Holland Tunnel or the George Washington Bridge.
There is emergency construction on the southbound side of the NJ Turnpike eastern spur near Exit 15X because of a large hole that developed.
A NJ Turnpike Authority spokesman told WABC / 7online that two lanes were shut down on the southbound eastern spur. They’re hoping to have the center lane reopened before 6:00 p.m. The right lane will remain closed until at least 6:30 p.m.
For now, only buses are being let out of the city at the Lincoln Tunnel.
Car traffic is being diverted to the Holland Tunnel and GWB while crews fix the hole in the turnpike.
The ramp from 495 to the southbound eastern spur is also closed. Traffic is being diverted onto Route 3, which will take drivers to the western spur.
