The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for the NYC area:

Areas of “black ice” are expected on untreated surfaces tonight (Monday). Temperatures above freezing this afternoon has caused the snowpack across the region to begin melting.

Temperatures will drop below freezing after sunset causing water on any untreated surfaces to refreeze.

YWN urges all motorists to use extreme caution if driving tonight as some roads could be icy.
