This weekend the remnants of Tropical Depression Rick (Pacific Basin Storm) will reach the New York City area, this storm is not expected to have a major impact on our area.  Heavy rain with a slight chance of scattered thunderstorms is expected with nuisance flooding in poor drainage areas.

Forecast:

Friday:  A slight chance of rain after 2pm.  Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57.  North wind around 9 mph becoming east.  Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night:  Rain, mainly after midnight.  Low around 48.  Chance of precipitation is 80%.  New rainfall amounts between a 1/4 and a 1/2 inch are possible.
Saturday:  Rain.  High near 63. Chance of precipitation is 80%.
Saturday Night:  Showers.  Low around 49.  Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Precipitation:

NWS anticipates approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches of rain for a 24 hr period (Friday evening to Saturday evening)

Rates are not expected to meet or exceed 1 inch per hour for 60 minutes. The heaviest rain will fall Saturday morning into early Saturday evening and will produce rates that will average approximately 1 inch per 6 hours.

Wind:

Expect South winds at 15-25 mph with some gusts late Saturday, especially with any associated thunderstorms.

Products:

Currently, Coastal Flooding products are NOT EXPECTED.  Tidal departures are not expected to match last weekend’s levels.  However, some south facing shorelines may be above normal.
