Number Of Victims’ Claims Against Madoff Nearly Doubles

The number of victims seeking money back from the Bernard Madoff’s Ponzi scheme has reached 15,400, up sharply from the 8,800 claims filed by June 1, according to a report in The New York Times.

The report said the number of claims was contained in an interim report filed Thursday in Federal Bankruptcy Court by the trustee overseeing the liquidation of Madoff’s estate. More than 230 subpoenas and 90 additional letters seeking information have been issued as part of the trustee’s investigation, it said.
