CIA Denies Cheney Request On Interrogations

The CIA has rejected former Vice President Dick Cheney’s request to declassify records of abusive interrogations of suspected terrorists, a spokesman for the spy agency said Thursday.

In a written statement, CIA spokesman Paul Gimigliano said the two documents Cheney requested are the subject of two pending lawsuits seeking the release of documents related to the interrogation program and cannot be declassified.

“This request was handled in accordance with normal practice by CIA professionals with long experience in information management and release. It was for them a straightforward issue,” he said.

The former vice president will appeal the ruling, an aide said.

Cheney has said he wants the documents released so there can be a more “honest debate” on the Bush administration’s approval of “alternative” interrogation techniques against suspected terrorists. He argued that those techniques provided valuable intelligence that saved American lives, but critics say they amounted to the illegal torture of prisoners in U.S. custody.

  1. I think the president, nancy polosy, and all the rest of the dems that feel so bad for the terrorist murderers who got water boarded should move to Afghanistan. they will see how long they live before their throats are slit by the poor people we want to water board

  2. Afghanistan is the center for terrorist training and exportation of said terrorists to the free world. Should we feel sorry for the terrorists? Hardly! We should feel sorry for the women and children, especially 4 year old brides, women who die in childbirth because they have no help to deliver their babies, children forced to work in drug factories…I could go on, but what would be the point?

Oh, by the way, there was a Jewish presence in Afghanistan at one time. Just in case anyone is interested (ask a Siman-Tov if you know one).
