The Weehawken company that runs ferries carrying 25,000 people a day between New Jersey and Manhattan says it’s staying in business despite rough financial waters.
   
NY Waterway is sending a letter to employees and customers that acknowledges that times are tough for the business.
   
It recently announced that ridership has been dropping since last fall and is down 12 percent compared with a year ago.
   
Crain’s New York Business Sunday had reported that the business could go bankrupt this year and was seeking a public agency such as NJ Transit or the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to buy the company.
   
NY Waterway owner Arthur Imperatore tells The Record of Bergen County that he never mentioned bankruptcy.
