Wall Street has tumbled again, sending the Dow Jones industrials down more than 370 points as volatility swept across the financial markets. Investors struggled throughout the day with their anxiety about the government’s plan to buy $700 billion in banks’ mortgage debt.
The Dow Jones industrial average closed 372 points down as decliners on the New York Stock Exchange held a 3-to-1 lead over advancers.
The S&P 500 dropped nearly 48 points to 1,207; and the Nasdaq composite lost about 95 points to 2,178.
