Three teenagers have been arrested in connection with the shooting of a 9-year-old boy in Crown Heights on Monday, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly announced Wednesday.
The boy remains in critical condition at Kings County Hospital after being shot in the head.
Police say the incident happened shortly after 9 p.m. in front of 1670 Pacific St. near Troy Avenue in Crown Heights. The boy, identified as Shamshuan Kelly, was shot once in the head after gunshots rang out, police said. The boy was hit as he ran toward his house to avoid the gunfire.
On Tuesday afternoon, 18-year-old Louis Gonzalez, who lives in the same building from the victim, turned himself in to police, Kelly said.
Jonathan Frazier, also 18, turned himself on Tuesday night. He was accompanied by his mother at the 77 Precinct.
Franken Gillespie, 17, was also arrested on an outstanding burglary warrant, Kelly said.
Gillespie was with Gonzalez and may have been the actual target of a previous dispute with Frazier, Kelly said.
