8:10AM EST: The New York State Thruway Authority said two southbound lanes on the Tappan Zee Bridge have been temporarily closed at 7:15AM in order to remove an unsecured section from the overhead structure.
According to LoHud, the reason for the closure was due to a painter’s cage dangerously dangling from a cable over the rush-hour traffic. Workers closed two lanes of traffic in order to retrieve the cage.
Traffic reports state that the rush hour traffic was backing up all the into Rockland County.
Expect major delays in the area.
