U.S. stocks fell the most in two weeks after UPS said shipments are slowing, Wall Street firms reported owning more securities that may be vulnerable to writedowns and oil climbed to a record.
The S&P’s 500 Index fell 11.05 points, or 0.8 percent, to 1,354.49. The Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 49.18, or 0.4 percent, to 12,527.26. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 26.64, or 1.1 percent, to 2,322.12. Four stocks fell for every one that rose on the New York Stock Exchange.
