So is there going to be a YeshivaWorld show on XM/Sirius Radio?
maybee now we can hear live shiurim of he daf?
I believe it is “Sirius”, not “Sirrus”.
I don’r particularly care about satellite radio since I don’t use it, but how would it not hurt competition nor consumers if Sirius and XM are the only 2 players in the market? Wouldn’t that be eliminating competition, which, in addition to be hurting competition by definition, would hurt consumers by having Sirius/XM raise their prices without fear of competition?
I am a big fan of XM-radio. For the past two years, XM has had all all-Jewish station (channel 108) during the 8 days of Chanukah. Unfortunately, it’s wasn’t all frum, but there was some very interesting programming (I heard some Miami Boys Chior songs, a program about the Catskills, etc., and much of the programming was live.) Both times when the channel signed-off the air, a frum person said that XM provided kosher pizza from Nut House Pizza in Silver Spring, MD and he mentioned a new glatt kosher restaurant that was about to open in the Washington, DC area (Pomegranite cafe?) XM-radio is based in Washington, DC. I think this frum
man was the programming director or music director (either of the channel or of all of XM); I forgot his name. I don’t know what will happen to him with the merger, but it’s not unthinkable that there will be an all-Jewish channel, especially if enough people ask for one.
Currently there’s an XM channel (P.O.T.U.S., that stands for the President of the United States) that’s 24×7 and devoted entirely to the 2008 Presidential election from all angles (including the entire candidates’ speeches, commentary, etc.)
There are also a couple of right-wing talkradio stations.
Some channels are available on the bird (satellite), some through the Internet at listen.xmradio.com , and some are available both ways.
I’m not at all familiar with Sirius.
