Hundreds of people fled their homes overnight as a volcano erupted in southern Chile, rocking the area with explosions and spewing lava and ash. According to media reports, the column of smoke rose more than 9,300 feet into sky. Vulcanologists were on site, and were flying over volcano to monitor the situation.
