The suspect in the kidnapping, killing and dismemberment of Leiby Kletzky has pleaded not guilty.
A defense attorney says Levi Aron has been found competent to stand trial.
Jennifer McCann said outside court Thursday that the finding was made after a psychiatric evaluation for Levi Aron.
An attorney spoke for Levi Aron at his Brooklyn arraignment on Thursday. He’s charged with murdering Leiby Kletzky after the child asked for directions, then got into his car.
Aron has been on a suicide watch and undergoing a psychiatric evaluation to determine whether he’s fit for trial. He told his attorney he heard voices.

Considering a meshuganah can be given drugs against his will to be made fit to stand trial (that’s an issue in the person accused of shooting Congresswoman Giffords – his lawyers want him to stay sufficiently undrugged so he stays sufficiently unfit to be tried) – this is not related to an insanity defense (but since they raised a fittned to stand trial they will probably go with insanity defense). Insanity defense dabbles with such concepts as knowing right from wrong and ability to control one’s actions.
I got to give it to YWN for covering this story with dignity and respect. This is a very tragic and painful story to all of us.

To say that an insanity defense “…dabbles with such concepts as knowing right from wrong and ability to control one’s actions…” is, l’havdil, like saying Torah “…dabbles with such concepts as G-d issues…”!

Now the question during the trial would be the question of if he really is fit to stand trial and is being properly represented.
There can be no earthly justice. So, let everyone pay a certain amount of money to do whatever they want to the monster for 10 seconds, until he no longer can survive the torture.

Where does he think he is going with this? He was caught “red-handed” in his own apartment with the evidence and he is Not Guilty be reason of insanity? He was under doctor’s care at the time. Had he been insane, his doctor would have had him committed.

Your statement is helping the defense. I think they will get him off with the insanity defense. About 20 years ago, to save money they started closing down a lot of psychiatric facilities. The gov. decided these people should be out on the streets.
Aries for s/o who deals with EDP’s, you should know you can’t commit s/o unless they are a danger to himself/herself or others. Aron wasn’t either prior to this incident!
@aries2756: Unless an individual says he/she will hurt himself or someone else or is caught in the act of harming another individual the (Psych) the hospital will not admit an individual. Sounds ridiculous but it’s true.
