Monsey, NY – A man believed to have left his 2-year-old daughter inside a parked car for two hours during Friday’s record-breaking heat is facing misdemeanor endangerment charges.
The girl was taken to Nyack Hospital about 2 p.m. after one of her parents called Hatzolah Ambulance to report the girl had been left in the vehicle as it was parked in their driveway, police said. The toddler was not seriously harmed during the incident.
Police believe the windows to the car had been cracked open, they said the alleged actions appear to have been inadvertent .
“He had been running errands, got back to the house and forgot that he had left his daughter in the car.”
He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree reckless endangerment, misdemeanors. He was released without bail.
The girl was later released from Nyack Hospital to the custody of her parents. Investigation into the case remains ongoing.

These stories are always so sad as it’s obvious the father meant no harm and in the erev-Shabbos rush somehow forgot. There are no easy answers to such situations.
You should see the typical rabidly anti-semitic comments on the Journal News article on this story. You never see anything of the like when the same story happens to a non-Jew (which happens far far more often both numerically and percentagely.)
Take the kids out first. Forget the groceries!!!!
I can’t believe these things still happen! With all the publicity these stories get, you would think ppl would be more aware.
Can someone explain to me, how fo you forget your 2 year old child in a car? And for 2 hour he didn’t notice her missing?
There are certain situations in life that have no room for error…this is one of them.
Peacemaker, is percentagely? Maybe percentage wise is more appropriate?
The parent is the captain, he/she should leave the vehicle LAST after checking there is no one left behind.
A real shame
It is truly a miracle that the child is still alive.
