Opening statements in the case against Mohammed Wali Zazi, the father of an admitted terrorist, were set for Monday in a Brooklyn federal court.
Prosecutors arrested Zazi last year and charged him with lying to investigators and destroying evidence of his son’s homemade explosives.

The 55-year-old suspect denied the charges and pleaded not guilty.

Zazi’s son, Najibullah, pleaded guilty last year to charges he plotted a suicide bombing of the city subway system with two friends.

Najibullah Zazi said he abandoned the plot when he learned the FBI was watching him.
