What started as a regular summer Thursday night at the Sloatsburg Rest Area, has turned into chaos, with hundreds of people trying to get into the Mincha Area at once. This has caused serious traffic delays on the NYS Thruway, with the NYSP stating the traffic is backed up for one mile. The Thruway Authority and NYSP have closed the area for the night.
Apparrantly, due to the overflowing crowds, people parked their vehicles on the enterence…

Dov Hikind should have been there directing traffic.
Oy VEY! We must be more careful to not make a chillul hashem! “people parked their vehicles on the enterence…” 1) tha’ts not right! Park only in designated parking spaces! 2) enterence is basically spelled in hungarian! chillul hassem!
This is what always happens we get a special privlige and then take advantage
לא לחינם אמרו חז”ל שהולכי דרכים פטורים מתפילה!
Daven b’yichidus, for heaven’s sake! Parking in the entrance is NOT a chilul HaShem . . . It is plain stupid.
Daven mincha in shul.
The nature and limitations of the patur of holchei derachim obviously needs to be clarified before it is relied on l’halachah.
Prevent Chilul Hashem and observe the Laws, park in designated areas only, keep the area clean. In Mesechata Succah it states clearly a everah for a mitzvah is still an everah. Simply just follow Malchut Medinah
No problem closing a Mincha area for the night if it’s after shkiyah.
Before everyone goes on a roll and starts critcizing, you could imagine that many people going up for the weekend left last night because of the holiday weekend, causing an unusual volume of cars. Obviously it caused a jam in the parking lot which isnt that huge to begin with, the cars probably were not able to get in.
To 1 , 2 & 3,
Why are you judging the yidden unfavorably. Hashem is getting nochas from His people who are machmir to daven with a minyan.
This is great news! We need a bigger area for mincha!

ACCORDING TO YOUR THINKING ONE CAN CLOSE A PUBLIC PLACE AND HIGHWAY AND GET OTHER PEOPLE UPSET BECAUSE YOU WANT TO BE machmir to daven with a minyan.
Yosse
thank you for saying it as it is. The selfishness in our community is appalling. Forget thinking about how the non Jews view us, we don’t even know how to treat each other or ourselves!
#9, the parking lot is very big and is rarely full even when there is a large crowd. Also there are minyanim back to back the whole night until very late,(first mincha then maariv), if people are so makpid they should also be makpid on kiddush Hashem and kavod chaverim and should have pulled over where they could wait for a spot and then davened with a later minyan. Barring a major emergency, there is absolutely no excuse for parking on the entrance ramp!
