Presidential candidate Michele Bachmann suggested Friday that President Obama is deliberately trying to let Medicare go broke, with the goal of forcing senior citizens to participate in his health care reform plan.
“The president’s plan for senior citizens is Obamacare,” the Minnesota congresswoman said at the Republican Leadership Conference. “I think very likely – and I’m speculating – I think very likely what the president intends is that Medicare will go broke, and ultimately that answer will be Obamacare for senior citizens.”
Bachmann pointed to the $500 billion in Medicare spending cuts that were contained in Obama’s health care bill as evidence of his allegedly covert plans.
“Just when our population of senior citizens is growing with baby boomers joining their ranks, we’ll have more people but less money, and no plan to save it,” Bachmann said, urging other Republicans to respond to Democratic attacks on Medicare by pointing to the lack of a Democratic plan.

Bachman is a hypocrite, a liar, and an ignoramus.
She is a hypocrite because she voted to end Medicare and replace it with a voucher system not that unlike Obamacare.
She is a liar because there are no “cuts” to Medicare, just changes in the program that result in lower rates of growth.
And she is an ignoramus because lower rates of growth are exactly what Medicare needs.
I didnt know it was a secret. It seem obvious to everyone with an ounce of saychil which OBVIOUSLY excludes the author of comment #1!! After all he is in denial that Obama cut 500 million dollars from Medicare to pay for socialized medicine.

She voted to have an entitlement that already existed be put back in the hands of the people. Hypocrisy, is when you publicly advocate for something and then do the opposite. She is against the government controlling our lives and has been consistent about it.
What you call “changes” as opposed to cuts, are causing doctors to drop Medicare right and left (no pun intended.) Let’s call it what it is.
Lower rates of growth with sub-par health care is the best that government controlled medicare can accomplish. (IE. Many Dr’s no longer accepting medicare) If we had more of a free-market system like Bachmann and other Conservatives want, then there could possibly be lower cost without lowering healthcare standards.
Competition causes growth. That’s how we have the highest standards in healthcare.
This country was founded on the principles of the free market. This is something Liberals don’t want to face.

I am in my 60s, have many frends and a 90 year old mother on Medicare…I lived through what Dubya’s “donut hole” did to seniors, contrary to all the rhetorical nonsense your types pumped out at the time …and I know enough fact, independent of ideology, to know what just about all economists say a voucher systemm would do to Medicare.

Obamacare is not the way. I got a brother who is a cardiologist and his practice is not growing rather declining as there is no insurance and Obama is not solving but rather adding to the problem. Just like he bailed out the big 3 in Detroit and gave us more debt maybe he should use Air Force 1 for more vacations and stay out of Washington. When he is away all is well when he is home all goes to pot.
