Two state lawmakers are calling for an end to horse drawn carriages which is a popular tourist attraction in the city.
State Senator Ton Avella, Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal and horse advocates held a “Horses Without Carriages International Day” rally at Central Park South. The rally was to introduce a state bill to ban the horse drawn carriage industry.
The lawmakers fell this industry is outdated and inhumane.
Many around the city feel the horse drawn carriages are icons.

Are they also opposed to the Belmont Stakes? Where horses are raced and whipped? Horses there also suffer life ending injuries!
I wonder how these “leaders” think sometimes!
How can anything related to a horse be called “inhumane”?!?
The problem is that lawmakers are usually bored, so they sit around and think up how they can possibly make themselves noticed.
