Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly announced 22 high-level departmental transfers Thursday, sources told the Daily News.
The shakeup included the move of Deputy Chief James Shea – nearly bumped from his job two months ago as head of the Joint Terrorism Task Force in a clash over classified information, the sources said.
Shea was assigned to be commanding officer of the Police Academy, where he will replace Assistant Chief George Anderson when he moves to head the Patrol Services Bureau.
Deputy Chief Matthew Pontillo, the current executive officer of intelligence, will replace Shea as head of the JTTF, sources said.
Pontillo’s post will be taken over by Inspector Brian Burke, who commands Kelly’s security detail, sources said.
Shea was almost bounced in March because he refused to provide sensitive information to his NYPD superiors, sources said.
A spokesman for the NYPD did not return a request for comment.
