New Yorkers will be tipping their hats to the members of the armed forces who are in town for Fleet Week.
Thousands of Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen from the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard are expected.
A fleet of ships arrive Wednesday on the West Side of Manhattan.
U.S. Navy ships including the U.S.S. New York which will be docked on Staten Island and the U.S.S. Iwo Jima which will be on Pier 88 are among the vessels coming into town.
Fleet Week runs through June 1.
The City’s official website says there will be “dozens of military demonstrations and displays throughout the week as well as public visitation of participating ships.”
Many of the events are taking place at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
