San Fransisco Ban Against Bris Mila Cleared For Ballot

San Francisco – A proposition to ban circumcision for boys younger than 18-years-old will be put to the voters in November.

City election officials Wednesday certified that enough valid petition signatures were received to qualify the measure for the ballot, the San Francisco Chronicle  reports.

If it’s approved, it would make it a misdemeanor “to circumcise, excise, cut or mutilate the foreskin, of another person who has not attained the age of 18,” the San Francisco Examiner notes. There are no religious exemptions. Violators could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.

The petition is seen by many as a clear violation of religious freedom.

  1. We should get votes to but toevah marrige on the ballots, unfortunitly its not just our mayor, but most polls show most american are support this. Just like ‘the whole’ town stood outside Lot’s door all who don’t stand against toeva are silently suporting it

  2. Remember your history from the 1930’s, and all those in Germany who said it couldn’t happen here, the Germans are too civilized, Its starts out with a vote like this in San Francisco and it evolves into the monster that resulted in the Shoah.

  3. I believe there should be a ban on any young adult mutilating their bodies with multi-ear, nose, eye, belly and any other piercings and tatoos at least to the wise old age of 18 if not better 21 when the have a better understanding of what they are doing and the health risks involved and also what is involved in undoing the damage they cause themselves in the immature foolish decisions they make in their youth through peer pressure.

These decisions should be banned until they are old enough and wise enough to make such decisions when they reach the age of maturity and can make them at 18 or better at 21. Why only worry about circumcision which is a religious issue?

  4. Breaking news: Next up is a petition to outlaw the lunar calendar. All Americans should be using one uniform calendar. Groundswell of support to outlaw the sabbath observance as well. We all benefit from a six day workweek. Sound familiar?
