City residents will be paying more for water starting this summer.
The water board voted in favor this morning of a 7.5 percent rate hike for the coming fiscal year.
That works out to about $5 a month for the average homeowner.
It’s the first time in five years the increase comes in under 10 percent.
Those who pay by direct debit and enroll in paperless billing will continue to receive a two percent discount.
The rate hikes will take effect July 1st.

Just another tax Bloomberg is imposing so he can hire more useless deputy commissioners, which have doubled over the last 8 years.
This whole business with water meters started about 20 years ago or so when there was a drought and they were trying to get people to not waste water.
Prior to that there was a flat LOW rate for water.
The drought came and went but the water meters and the higher water rates came and stayed.
Another rip-off by the city.
Another to reason to get out if you possibly can.
They should illegalize the Waterboard.
ureal!! has anyone you know gotten a 10% raise every year? most people have either gotten pay cuts or stayed the same for the last few years yet every utility has gone up crazy amounts in the same time.
