A new GPS system could soon give city drivers something of a crystal ball.
City officials are exploring technology that could give drivers real-time traffic updates and suggest the fastest routes in an effort to ease congestion.
It could also record driving habits, like speed and mileage to help drivers get lower insurance rates.
The technology has been implemented to offer “Pay as you Go” insurance in other parts of the country.
It could also eventually be used to charge drivers based on where they drive, potentially replacing gas tax revenues.
