The NYPD is seeking the public’s assistance in finding a taxi driver wanted for “abduction”.
The suspect, described as a male between 40 and 45 years old, is approximately 5-foot-8 and was last seen wearing a red and orange turban.
Police said the alleged attack happened on May 6 at around 6 a.m. in the vicinity of Rodney Street and South 1st Street in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn. A 26-year-old woman who was a passenger in a yellow cab was abducted at knifepoint by the driver of the cab. The suspect also removed the victim’s cell phone and $20 in cash before fleeing the location. The victim went to a local hospital where she was treated for lacerations to her hands and face, police said.
Anyone with information in regards to this attack is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

I just heard this on the news. It was not an abduction. She hailed a cab outside a club,she was visibly drunk and the cabbie took advantage of her situation.
Did they try tracking the cell phone before announcing it on the news?

I assume that is why they wrote abduction in quotations. Its a euphemism.
Yellow cabs are all tracked with GPS, so I don’t understand the difficulty in locating this cab. I bet though there is more to the story, the nature of which is inappropriate for this site.
