It’s Offical: Newt Gingrich Running For President

Newt Gingrich formally launched his long-expected presidential campaign Wednesday, saying “we can return America to hope and opportunity.”

“I want your help, because no one person in the Oval Office can get this done,” Gingrich said in a YouTube video after announcing his candidacy on Twitter. “We Americans are going to have to talk together, work together, find solutions together and insist on opposing… those forces that don’t want to change.”

Gingrich had already said two days earlier that the announcement was coming, and coupled with an awkwardly aborted campaign roll-out two months ago, it made for a slow march toward a full-fledged campaign. Even after his Twitter post, Gingrich’s new campaign website had only a placeholder for quotes from his video message.

  1. Let me see if I understand this. Newt said in announcing his candidacy (or was he merely announcing the announcement of his candidacy): ““We Americans are going to have to talk together, work together, find solutions together and insist on opposing… those forces that don’t want to change.” So he’s running on a platform of … change? Isn’t that what the current guy in the White House is about?

I was hoping Newt would run on family values. After all, a guy with 3 wives must really believe in the importance of family, like, 3 times more than a guy like Obama, who has only 1 wife. And for a Muslim, that’s not really showing the kind of committment to family that one would expect.

  2. Lets wait to see who the mainstream press tells us to vote for, AND VOTE THE OPPOSITE!!

    Thank G-d for the primaries.

  3. Now this guy is scary! at least with obama you know what your getting this guy and the neo conservatives ie.. Newt, romney, gw bush etc.. talk to the flag and then trample on it they all support a new world order be careful who you support, only an endorsed tea party candidate can be trusted, for now at least

  4. Newt and family values is an oxymoron. He resigned for congress in disgrace because of his hypocritical stance on president Clinton’s extra marital affairs.
