A boisterous crowd gathered late Sunday night outside of the White House to celebrate the slaying of Osama bin Laden.
Cable networks showed live video of a growing crowd pressed up against the White House gates shortly after President Obama took to national television to announce that a U.S. operation had led to the al Qaeda leader’s assassination in Pakistan.
Video of the crowd showed people chanting “U-S-A! U-S-A!” and celebrating loudly. Many participants in the impromptu victory rally waved American flags; CNN briefly captured video of at least one person carrying a “Bush-Cheney” campaign placard.
