A massive Kosher supermarket scheduled for opening today, has been delayed due to an arson attack on the establishment, YWN has learned.
Highly credible sources tell YWN that a fire was set at the Seasons Kosher Supermarket, located at 68-18 Main Street, over the second days of Pesach. FDNY Marshall’s are reportedly in possession of video footage showing the arsonists on the roof of the building, cutting into the exhaust system, where the fire was set. Our sources tell us that the suspects were on the roof at approximately 4:30AM on Monday morning. Being that the in-house sprinkler system extinguished the fire right away, and the fact that the store was closed over Yom Tov, the FDNY was first called after a pedestrian walking past noticed water streaming out from under the store entrance into the street. By that time, there had already been serious water damage to the store which was all prepared for the grand opening.
Fire Marshals and NYPD Investigators are currently on the scene, and continuing their investigation.
The store which is occupying the former Supersol location in Kew Gardens Hills, was advertised as the largest Kosher gourmet supermarket to be opened in Queens, and many people were looking forward to the grand opening which was to take place this morning.
The store released the following short statement on their website:
Dear Valued Customers,
Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will not be having our grand opening tomorrow, April 27th 2011 as originally scheduled.
Please stay tuned for Grand Opening information!
Thousands of people had recently participated in a contest to choose the name for the upscale kosher market. Danielle Jacobs, a Cedarhurst mother of two, came up with the winning name “SEASONS”, which earned her $100 worth of free groceries every week for a year.
