A powerful storm system moved over the tri-state Saturday, bringing with it drenching rains and strong wind.
Clouds thickened over the tri-state Saturday afternoon as powerful winds kicked up around the region. By evening, rain will spread over much of the area.
The chilly rain will be heavy at times and a few gusty thunderstorms are likely Saturday night along with 1 to 2 inches of rainfall.
Localized flooding is possible overnight into Sunday morning, and minor to moderate coastal flooding is expected during high tide Saturday night.
Temperatures once again will remain well below average with 40s for highs. The other component of the storm, strong winds, will increase through Saturday afternoon, with gusts expected to top 45 mph.
Wind advisories are posted for parts of the tri-state from Saturday morning until Sunday morning.
The good news is this storm is fast moving, so the second half of the weekend will be breezy and dry.
Sunshine will help boost Sunday’s temperatures back into the 60s.
