7:10PM EST: A small plane has just gone down in the water on the far east-side off of Far Rockaway (Beach 56 and the water). NYPD Aviation is overhead and reports that three people are out of the plane and on the beach, and reports that they appear to be uninjured. The aircraft is partially submerged in the water, and is fully intact.

It may have taken off in Farmingdale Airport in Long Island before making its emergency landing.

FDNY now reports that the plane has been removed from the water on 51 Place and the water.

UPDATE 7:50PM EST: NYC OEM reports that the aircraft was a Piper Club, which made a safe emergency landing on the beach with three people on board. FDNY has secured the aircraft with a rope.
