As several of Israel’s neighbors deal with tumult in the streets, Israeli President Shimon Peres will visit President Barack Obama for the first time in nearly two years, a White House press release said.
During a working lunch on April 5, the two leaders plan to discuss U.S.-Israeli security cooperation, recent developments across the Middle East, and the pursuit of peace between Israel and its neighbors, the White House said.
The statement reads as follows:
The President will welcome Israeli President Shimon Peres to the White House for a working lunch on April 5, 2011. The President looks forward to discussing with President Peres the full range of issues of common concern, including U.S.-Israeli security cooperation, recent developments across the Middle East, and the pursuit of peace between Israel and its neighbors. The President last received President Peres at the White House in May 2009.

Obama to Netanyahu: You are messed over, we followed the foolish approach of the Europeans trying to appease Iran the past few years, we drove Turkey into Iran’s hands. We gave over Egypt to the muslim brotherhood, we have no idea what to do if Jordan collapses, we are not lending any support to the heroic Lebanese protesting against Hezzbollah. You are surrounded now by enemies with American weapons and F-16s. You better make peace with Palestinians or you will not have one friend in the region.
