Two years ago this month, President Obama met with the families of Sept. 11 victims and other victims of terrorism at a special meeting in Washington, D.C., and promised “swift and certain justice” for the perpetrators. But the high expectations of that meeting have given way to frustration for many who met with Obama.
“One of the first things he told us was that we were the conscience of the country and he wanted to give us swift and certain justice,” Debra Burlingame, whose brother, Charles, was the pilot on Flight 77 on 9/11, told Fox News. She was one of about 30 people at the meeting.
That same phrase “swift and certain justice” was used by the White House in its own press release after the meeting.
But with no timetable for a trial for those charged with being behind the attacks, Hamilton Peterson, who lost his father and stepmother on 9/11, says the families feel betrayed.
“Unfortunately, I would say, at a minimum, we were misled, “ Peterson said.
A White House spokesman declined to comment on the complaints of the victim’s families. But outside groups say that part of the problem for the administration has been the ongoing legal and political fight over the military prison at Guantanamo Bay. The president wants to close it, but a bipartisan coalition in Congress has adamantly refused to allow him to bring the inmates to facilities inside the U.S.

This article is a sterling example of Fox News’s anti-Obama bias, as it ignores the period between 9/11/2001 and the date of the meeting 2 years ago, and does not mention the name of the president who was in office on 9/11/2001 and for seven years after that, or the promises he made to bring the perpetrators of the 9/11 massacre to justice. It is is also an example of the illiteracy of the Fox editors, as in the last paragraph it refers to a single victim’s family instead of all the victims’ families.
why is this media outlet printing fox news ? why dont they have anyone to tell them that fox news systematically fabricates stories and also carefully reports only portions of stories which directly misleads readers into believing the partial story is the whole story.
in this case obama has done everything he as president is supposed to do: plan the trials. And obama did it in a timely way. There is no criticism of his timely manner. But then due to politicians and public opinion getting in the way with regard to location, lawsuits have interfered with the justice dept proceeding with plans.
But FOX NEWS DIDN’T REPORT IT….SO THE YESHIVAWORLD.COM SHOULDN’T HAVE USED THE FOX STORY. THE YESHIVAWORLD.COM SHOULD HAVE WAITED FOR A REAL JOURNALIST OUTLET TO COVER THE COMPREHENSIVE STORY ( with more detail than i just remarked).
shame on you.
Not only were we mislead (lied to) by Obama in everything he said before he won the election, but with specific regard to the content of this article: Not only is there not going to be “swift and certain justice” with regards to Al Qaeda and bin laden (ys), but, in fact, Obama, Al Qaeda, and bin laden are on the same side of what is going on in the Middle East, and rooting for the same course of action.
