Bloomberg’s Travels Come Under Scrutiny

Michael Bloomberg’s whereabouts during the December blizzard – and the widely criticized clean-up effort – have prompted a new level of scrutiny on the New York City mayor’s whereabouts.

The City Council may take up a measure to require notification when the mayor leaves town.

The Wall Street Journal reports that Bloomberg’s fleet of private planes made 16 trips to Bermuda in 2010. Bloomberg owns a home there.

In total, the planes have flown to Bermuda 54 times from 2007 through 2010, the Journal reports. One of those trips coincided with the Christmas blizzard that swamped the city, the paper reported.

While the Federal Aviation Administration keeps logs of the flights, which the Journal reviewed, it’s not possible to tell who was aboard the planes.

  1. The mayor is coasting through the rest of his term. His head is in the future of Bloomberg LP in the Emirates. Not even worth writing about him in the present tense.
