David Paterson Still Virtual Governor Of New York

At the State Capitol, former Gov. David A. Paterson has most definitely left the building. But his digital presence apparently has not.

New Yorkers who have written to the governor’s office have been receiving an automated e-mail reply from Mr. Paterson, not his successor, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo, who took office more than a month ago.

“I want to assure you,” the return e-mail says, “that your e-mail has been received, and will be read and shared with the appropriate members of my staff.”

“Sincerely,” the message concludes, “Governor David A. Paterson.”

This would not be the Cuomo administration’s first technological flub. The weekend of Mr. Cuomo’s inauguration, his new official Web site briefly linked to a parody Twitter account, rather than the governor’s official account.

  1. Email signatures are so easy to do well, that it’s really a shame how often they’re done poorly.

Why are email signatures important? They may be boring and the last item on your list of things to get right, but they affect the tone of every email you write.
