“Today we woke up after the second major storm of the season, and New York City showed itself to be much better prepared than in December’s blizzard. The Bloomberg Administration deserves credit for a significantly improved response that led to fewer vehicles stranded on the roads and faster plowing on side streets. The City also did a better job clearing hospitals, with the streets surrounding all 55 hospitals tracked on my office’s “Hospital Watch” plowed at least once by 9am this morning. There were 10 hospitals that needed another pass by snow plows, and I appreciate the City responding quickly to our reports and dispatching help. It must be our goal to keep all hospitals clear from the moment snow begins falling.
I am deeply concerned by reports of one hundred passengers left stranded overnight on a Coney Island-bound N train. December’s blizzard made clear the need to never abandon passengers without recourse. The MTA must do a better job looking out for its riders during emergencies.”

One Response
Utter nonsense! Nothing has to do with a “better response.” This snow was not a blizzard. Therefore, although they didn’t plow even the main streets, like 13th avenue, cars weren’t stuck.
