Michigan – A 29-year-old Ann Arbor man was walking home early Tuesday when he was suddenly attacked by an apparently drunken man who asked him if he was Jewish, Ann Arbor police said.
The victim, who is Asian, was walking in the 1200 block of White Street at 3 a.m. Tuesday when he was confronted, police said.
Ann Arbor police Lt. Mark St. Amour said the attacker, who appeared intoxicated, began punching the victim without warning. St. Amour said the attacker, described as white and in his early-20s, asked the victim whether he’s Jewish and yelled: “You don’t know the real world.”
St. Amour said the victim was knocked to the ground during the assault but was able to break away and run home to call police.
The victim suffered facial injuries, including swelling and a small cut below his left eye, St. Amour said. He was not transported to the hospital.
Police were unable to locate the attacker.
