There was a kidnapping scare in Lakewood on Tuesday morning, after a young boy told her mother that his 9-year-old sister “was picked up in a private car, and not the school-bus”.
The frantic mother called Lakewood Hatzolah, who quickly contacted Lakewood PD, and both responded. After speaking with the mother, officers notified the NJ State Police that an “Amber Alert” should be issued for the child. The 10-year-old brother who witnessed the incident said his sister was picked up in a strange, light-blue car.
Approximately 30 minutes later, it was learned that the child had been picked up by the school-bus driver, as she was driving to get her bus for the morning run.
Detectives were waiting to question the driver.
It is unknown if the Amber Alert was actually issued by the NJ State Police.

Boruch Hashem, it seems that the child is fine. However, what the driver did was, at the very least, a serious breach of protocol, and most likely illegal. She is not authorized to pick up other people’s children in her private car.
The terror that a parent feels in such a case…May Hashem protect us from such “mistakes”.
A child should NEVER go with a driver is s/he is not in the official vehicle and if s/he is not on the child’s official route and schedule. PLEASE make that clear to your children. Pedophiles are very clever. I am not c”v saying or implying that she is, I am just saying that WE must be aware of this fact and that we must teach our children to be aware!
What this driver did may have been innocent in her own eyes but it is against protocol for a very good reason. She needs to have disciplinary actions taken because of it, whether it is just a write up in her file or a day of suspension. What she did, she did for her own convenience and not for the child’s and that is also enough of a reason to have a disciplinary action taken against her.
The responsibility she is given as a school bus driver must be taken seriously.
