7:00AM EST: The Manhattan-bound, upper level of the George Washington Bridge is closed.

An accident at around 3:15 a.m. involving seven tractor trailers and a car lead to a fuel and anti-freeze spill. There were no serious injuries, according to the Port Authority.

Emergency crews are on the scene sanding the roadway. A fuel slick stretches from the GWB to the Sheridan Expressway.

The upper level of the GWB is expected to be reopened during the morning rush.

Expect heavy delays into New York City along the lower level of the GWB.

The Lincoln Tunnel and the Holland Tunnel are alternates into NYC.

UPDATE 7:33AM EST: The upper level has been reopened, but a two hour delay remains for all approaches. The lower level is seeing a 60-90 minute delay.

whoever wrote this statement is missing something . we all know when you come off the George Washington Bridge the roadway goes down , so any residue would be under those tall apartment houses , and then the New York City Fire Department would be responding there and sanding that whole area .
