State Lawmakers Unveil September 11th Exhibit In Washington

Supporters of a bill to provide health care to those who worked at the World Trade Center after the terror attacks are unveiling an exhibit on Capitol Hill today that they hope will prompt lawmakers to pass the legislation.

The exhibit features 29 police badges from members of the New York City Police Department who died after taking part in the recovery efforts at the WTC site.

Senators Kirsten Gillibrand and Charles Schumer, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly and other New York lawmakers are attending today’s opening of the exhibit.

The House has already passed the bill, but it’s not clear when, or even if, the Senate will take it up.

Lawmakers returned for a lame-duck session today.
