Ex-House Leader DeLay Found Guilty In Money-Laundering Trial

A Texas jury Wednesday found Tom DeLay, the former House majority leader and Texas political powerhouse, guilty in a money-laundering trial involving contributions to political campaigns.

DeLay was found guilty on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering, said jury bailiff Gilbert Soto.

Jurors deliberated for 19 hours before they came back with guilty verdicts against Mr. DeLay on charges of money laundering and conspiracy to commit money laundering.

DeLay was charged with illegally funneling $190,000 in corporate money to help elect Republicans to the state House and Senate in 2002. At the outset of the trial, he predicted the jury would clear him.

  1. #1,

Using House stationary improperly is a lot different from money laundering. Rangel’s offenses were violations of House rules but probably not crimes.

And you should have some gratitude for any politician who has been a strong supporter of Jewish causes in general and of Israel in particular for the past 40 years. One, expressing gratitude develops good midot. Two, if we don’t appreciate the politicians who support our interests, there will be no reason for them to continue to do so in the future.
