New York City won the ignominious prize of worst rush-hour traffic Monday, beating out Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Montreal in a study released before the crush of Thanksgiving traffic.
The Big Apple squeezed ahead of the nation’s capitol, San Francisco and the City of Lights, all of which have infamously congested roads, in the study from map maker NAVTEQ.
In the “freeways with the slowest rush hour” category, New York’s northbound Brooklyn Battery Tunnel was the worst, followed by the city’s eastbound Washington Bridge and Montreal’s main highway.
Some 42.2 million Americans will travel at least 50 miles from home this Thanksgiving, up 11 percent from last year thanks to the improved economy, according to AAA estimates.
