New York City’s safest neighborhood is in the Midwood section of Brooklyn.
The company NeighborhoodScout revealed its rankings of U.S. neighborhoods, based on FBI data, on Monday.
The group said the Bedford Avenue area was safer than 90-percent of all neighborhoods in the nation, with a crime rate of only two per 1,000 and with the chances of your becoming a crime victim only one in 500.
Most Americans equate big cities with high crime — New York, Los Angeles, Chicago. But NeighborhoodScout’s exclusive research reveals that even big cities with high crime rates can have very safe neighborhoods with stunningly low rates of crime. Some city neighborhoods are actually safer than most neighborhoods in America regardless of whether they are urban or rural.

I have a feeling that these statistics are over one year old.
Yes, it is still RELATIVELY safe in comparison to many other areas, but has definitely gotten worse in the last 1-2 years.
Thanks for letting all the miscreants of the world in on our secret.
Hasnt Midwood had a couple of shootings and a murder lately?
You got to be kidding? Where I got assaulted and mugged on two separate occasions? Harlem is safer than Midwood! Never had problem in the ‘hood.
What is “Midwwood” (or “Flatbush”)’s boundaries?
What is “Midwood” (or “Flatbush”)’s boundaries?
The map accompanying the article shows the area bounded by Avenue I and Avenue K from East 22nd to East 26th Streets. While it’s possible that there were no crimes reported in these 8 square blocks I’m certain that there are many thousands of 8 square block areas in the country that also have no crime reports.
number 7 that area is flatbush more or less, anyways last 2 months we had 2 shootings and two car accidents but i guess we are the safeties
Checking the original article:
The neighborhood referenced is bounded by Ave “I” to “Z” and E. 22nd to E. 26th.
This is only part of Midwood. If you’re not within those boundaries you aren’t part of this story.
