Nor’Easter Heads Toward Tri-State

The Tri-State area is bracing for what could be a big storm.

Forecasters say the region can expect wet and windy weather as a nor’easter starts to develop along the Mid-Atlantic coast.

The National Weather Service says the storm will bring strong winds and about an inch of rain starting Thursday afternoon. Conditions are expected to be messy for the evening rush hour, courtesy of a low pressure system that will track its way north and east.

The rain should begin in earnest around the afternoon rush hour, first in New Jersey and Staten Island, then spreading over the rest of New York City, the Hudson Valley, Long Island and Connecticut by the evening. The rain will be pushed out of the region by strong winds on Friday and Saturday.

The rain is expected to last through the night and may linger through the Friday morning commute.  Strong winds and clouds will stick around through Saturday.

Forecasters say west to northwest winds will increase to 20 to 25 mph with gusts to around 45 mph.

Friday: High 58, Low 47
Cloudy. Rain likely, mainly in the morning. Windy with highs in the upper 50s. West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.

Saturday: High 59, Low 47
