Closing arguments are set to begin today in the trial of four men accused of plotting to blow up synagogues in the Bronx and shoot down military planes upstate.
After weeks of sometimes heated questioning of a government informant, the defense rested its case Thursday after calling just two witnesses to the stand.
Defense attorneys maintained their clients were entrapped by the paid FBI informant, but the U.S. Attorney’s office argues the men willingly participated in the plot.
The defendants — James Cromitie, David Williams, Onta Williams and Laguerre Payen — face up to life in prison if convicted.
Jury deliberations are expected to begin Wednesday.
