The Ground Zero mosque appears to be covered in Stars of David.
Architectural renderings of the controversial Park Place community center and mosque released this week show the exterior dressed in a web-like design that appears to incorporate the Jewish symbol.
After making public the renderings, the organizers of the project put out an explanation on their Twitter account saying, “Some architectural clarification, the historical use of the Hexagram in Muslim, Jewish and Christian Architecture.” The tweet links to the Wikipedia page on six-pointed stars and their use in various religions.
When the mosque developers announced their plans last spring, they said they would hold an international design competition for the building.
But this week, they unveiled plans done by SOMA, a firm with offices in SoHo, whose design credits include two restaurants in Manhattan—Naya and Tartinery.

As pointed out by others – the stars are intact at the top of the building, but on the lower levels the stars appear to become more fractured the closer they are to the ground level. The overall impression is that the stars are falling and shattering.
#1, if that’s the case, it was probably done on purpose.
From a symbolic point of view, the stars would be representing the Jewish people falling and breaking under Muslim power..
Please H-shem don’t let this happen.
The Magen David/Star of David is also recognized in the muslim religion. On the way to the Kosel/Western Wall, through the Arab Shuk/marketplace you can see engraves ontop of the archways a Magen David, but i think it has a few more edges.
do a google search for hexagram and look in wikipedia for the “usage in muslim culture”
I own a dumbek drum made in Egypt that is completely covered in magen davids. I had a hunch it was also a symbol they used…
