PHOTOS: Jewish Man Shot In Midwood Overnight

The NYPD  is investigating a drive-by shooting in Brooklyn overnight that left one man in critical, but stable condition.

The shooting happened in the Midwood section of Brooklyn on East 17th Street, near Avenue K, just before 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

He was shot in the left shoulder, and the bullet traveled into his midsection.

He was rushed by Flatbush Hatzolah to Kings County Hospital. He was listed in critical condition, but was expected to survive.

Police were looking for a green or gray Mazda CX9 that fled the scene.

No arrests were immediately made and police did not have a motive, other than the shooting appeared to be a dispute on the street.

Local residents who gathered following the shooting identified the man as a black Orthodox Jew who is well-known in the area.

There is no reason for te community to feel unsafe, as highly credible sources tell YWN that the victim may have known his attacker, and this is nothing more than an isolated incident.

  1. “Local residents who gathered following the shooting identified the man as a black Orthodox Jew who is well-known in the area”

Very unclear, identified what man? the assailant or the victim

  2. Is the NYPD with “crime is at its lowest” going to classify this as nothing more than a misdeamonor? if you dont report crime of course it goes down, Kelly could come to our community everyday but if you dont report you cant fight it.

  3. Ave K between Coney and Ocean Ave has always been the most unsafe 10 blocks in Midwood. I’ve been attacked there, my brother was mugged there, and it’s definitely a path to avoid if you can, especially at night.

  4. I as as a candidate for State Senator in the 27th district, which ave k and e 17 is in, I will demand Higher Police presence, More nighttime patrol, and Additional funding for shomerim and Hatzalah. This is the second such incident in less then two months. I am Heart Broken over this. May he have a Refuah Shelama.
