A new poll by Rasmussen finds a 16-point lead for Democrat Andrew Cuomo in his gubernatorial race against Carl Paladino, the Buffalo real-estate developer who won the Republican nomination last week.
The poll, which surveyed likely voters, found 54% supporting Cuomo to Paladino’s 38%. The poll’s margin of error is 4.5 percentage points.
As WSJ’s Mary Lu Carnevale points out on the Washington Wire blog, Cuomo enjoys a similar edge in favorability ratings: 59% of likely voters surveyed had either a “very favorable” or “somewhat favorable” view of Cuomo, who currently serves as New York’s attorney general, while only 46% had that view of Paladino.
There is some evidence in the poll that Paladino has room to woo more voters: 15% of likely voters surveyed said they were unsure of what to think about the Republican nominee, while just 5% were not sure about Cuomo. Read more at Washington Wire.

Paladino has no chance!
The poll probably understates Cuomo’s margin for two reasons: First, Rasmussen always overstates Republican support compared to every other pollster. Second, the poll did not include Rick Lazio who is on the ballot as the Conservative Party nominee.
You fail to mention that last week Cuomo led by more than 20 points. His lead is dwindling.
Perhaps Paladino is not the best for the job but we can’t have another Cuomo.
Polls also showed Lazio beating Paladino in a landslide. So much for polls. I hope G-d will not allow another Cuomo to totally kill NY.
ANYBODY but Paladino, and I do mean ANYBODY.
