YWN has confirmed that since 6:30pm there has been a blackout on 48th Street between 13th and 14th Avenues affecting hundreds of residents. Initial estimates were that electric would be restored at 3am.
We just spoke to Councilman David Greenfield who has been on the scene for the last two hours working to expedite the restoration of power. Councilman Greenfield tells us “thanks to to OEM and the hard work of Con Ed, I am optimistic that power will ‘im yirtza Hashem’ be restored by 10pm. Regardless, I won’t leave until the power is restored.”
9:47pm Update: Councilman Greenfield reports that electricity has been restored on 48th Street.

there was also a blackout on 50-51 st and 19th ave due to manhole and utility pole fire

When I called the first thing they asked me was if I paid the electric bill. Nitwits! These are the same folks that own the controversial site of the WTC mosque. Maybe D.G. can do something there too. I know he is always looking for new challenges.
