State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo may have picked up the endorsement of the Daily News in his run for governor, but the paper’s op-ed reads more like a list of reasons why voters should avoid the two Republican candidates.
The paper says, “There’s no point taking stock of candidates vying for the Republican nomination in next month’s primary. Rick Lazio and Carl Paladino have been that awful.”
The News calls Lazio’s platform a “paint-by-number compilation of vows” and blasts the former Congressman for using the debate over a proposed Islamic center near the World Trade Center site as part of his campaign.
It also accuses rival Paladino — a Buffalo businessman — of racist and insensitive behavior and remarks.
As for Cuomo, the paper says he is the only worthy choice for governor because of the way he has laid out his plans for the state.
The Republican and Democratic primaries are September 14.

big surprise a liberal paper owned by Zuckerman supporting a liberal.
Does the Daily Shmutz like the a mosque to be a Ground Zero too? Spacieme II like it!
The Daily News has a point. The Republican candidates are a sad commentary on the state of the party. I voted for L:azio when he ran against Hillary Clinton only to avoid voting for her.
